Top Upcoming Cars in India May 2026, From Electric SUVs to Premium Sedans

In April 2026, several major cars launched, including the Volkswagen Taigun, Tesla Model Y L, and Mercedes-Benz CLA. May is set to continue with the launch of several new cars in the Indian market. Let’s take a look at the upcoming cars.

Honda City Facelift

The fifth-generation Honda City facelift will be launched on May 22nd, with several changes to its layout. The Honda City facelift is expected to feature the same engines as the current model: a 1.5-litre narrow-body engine and a hybrid engine, producing approximately 121 hp and 126 hp, respectively. Key changes in the Honda City facelift include ventilated front seats, a larger screen, and a power driver’s seat.

Honda ZR-V

Alongside the Honda City facelift, Honda will launch the ZR-V on May 22nd. This premium five-seater SUV will be imported into India as a CBU and compete with the Skoda Kodiaq Lounge. The ZR-V is expected to feature a 2.0-litre petrol-hybrid engine that will generate around 180 horsepower.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella, first introduced earlier this year, is essentially a new variant of the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara and is expected to go on sale in May 2026. This electric SUV comes with two battery options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The larger variant features a 171.6 hp engine that produces 189 Nm of torque, while the smaller variant produces 106 hp. With a claimed range of up to 543 kilometres, the Ebella will be available in both two- and all-wheel-drive configurations. Its LFP battery supports both AC and DC fast charging.

Tata Sierra EV

One of Tata’s most anticipated launches of 2026 is the all-electric Sierra, expected to launch around the third week of May. It will be positioned below the Harrier EV in Tata’s growing electric SUV range. While the SUV is likely to retain the retro-modern proportions and silhouette of the ICE Sierra, the EV version will stand out with a closed grille, split headlamp setup, and full-width LED light bar.

Tata Electric may offer two battery options for the Sierra, with the top model featuring dual motors for better performance. A battery subscription plan may also be available to reduce purchase costs. The interior is expected to be similar to the regular Sierra, with two screens in the base model and three screens in the higher-end models.
