Milk Becomes Costlier in Indore and Bhopal, Prices Jump Up to ₹65 Per Litre

Jabalpur News: The heat of the ongoing war in the Middle East is reaching every city in India. Everyone was already troubled by the shortage of cooking gas, diesel, and petrol, but inflation has also broken the back of the common man. In the major cities of Madhya Pradesh, Jabalpur, Indore, Bhopal, and Ujjain, milk prices have been increased by 2 to 5 rupees per litre. This new rate, which came into effect on Wednesday, has begun to disrupt kitchen budgets. Middle-class families will be particularly affected.

The most pronounced impact has been seen in Indore and Bhopal, where loose milk from dairy farms has risen from 60 rupees to 65 rupees per litre. In Jabalpur, milk is being sold for 68 to 73 rupees per litre. If corporate milk prices increase, this figure will exceed 75 rupees. Prices in other cities have also been increased based on local conditions. Milk vendors say this decision was taken out of compulsion because production costs are constantly rising.

Animals lack green fodder in the summer.

Manish Chaturvedi, a dairy farmer, explained that with the arrival of summer, the availability of green fodder for animals decreases. This directly impacts milk production. Furthermore, the cost of animal feed has increased, further increasing costs. Consequently, sellers have no choice but to raise prices.

What do dairy owners say?

The pressure of inflation isn’t limited to fodder. The rise in the price of commercial gas and fuel used in transportation and distribution has also increased costs. This is why this increase in milk prices is now reaching consumers. Dairy operator Rajendra Dubey says that if costs continue to rise at this rate, further increases are likely.

Commercial LPG cylinders are also expensive.

Meanwhile, the energy sector has also seen a major change. The price of commercial LPG cylinders has increased since April 1st. In the capital, Delhi, the price of a 19-kg cylinder has increased by approximately ₹200. Small commercial cylinders have also become more expensive. However, it is a matter of relief that domestic cooking gas prices have remained unchanged.
