Good News for NEET 2026 Students, Mumbai Trains to Run Without Sunday Mega Block

Mumbai Local Train Update: There is some relief news for thousands of students appearing in the NEET UG 2026 entrance examination. To facilitate student travel, Central Railway has decided not to observe any mega block during the daytime on Sunday, May 3 2026. However, a special ‘Night Block’ will be operated at midnight on Saturday and Sunday (May 2/3) for railway infrastructure and security maintenance. This block will be mainly effective on CSMT-Vidyavihar and Thane-Vashi/Nerul routes.

Route diversion between CSTM and Vidyavihar

There will be a block on the Up and Down slow lines on the main line from 00:05 PM to 05:05 AM on May 3. During this period, the following changes have been made in the operation of trains:

Down slow services: Trains leaving CSMT from 11:30 PM Saturday to 04:47 AM Sunday will be diverted to the fast line. These trains will stop at Byculla, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Sion and Kurla stations and will return on the slow line from Vidyavihar.

Up Slow Services: Trains running from Ghatkopar from 23:29 hours on Saturday night to 05:04 hours on Sunday morning will run on the fast track between Vidyavihar and CSMT, stopping at major stations.

Services on the Trans-Harbour Line will remain suspended

There will be a block on the Trans-Harbour Line between Thane and Vashi/Nerul from 11:45 PM on May 2 to 04:45 AM on May 3. During this period, services in both up and down directions will remain completely suspended.

There will be no trains from Thane to Vashi/Nerul/Panvel after 11:32 PM on Saturday. At the same time, the last services from Panvel/Nerul/Vashi to Thane will remain cancelled between 23:09 and 23:15.

Special arrangements for students

Generally, Central Railway stops train operations for maintenance on Sundays during the day. But keeping in mind the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) to be held on May 3, the Railways has ensured that students do not face any inconvenience in reaching the examination centres. The Railway Administration has appealed to the passengers to plan their journey keeping in mind the timing of the night block. Railways have also expressed regret for the occasional inconvenience caused to the passengers.
