If you send your children to school by van, this news is extremely important for you. Jabalpur Collector Raghavendra Singh has issued an important order to ensure the safety of children. Under this order, all government and private schools in the district are completely banned from using LPG-powered vehicles to transport students. This ban will come into effect on April 1, 2026.
If any school is found transporting students using LPG-powered vehicles after the stipulated date, it will be considered a violation of the order, and strict action will be taken against the school management and vehicle owner.
In fact, regarding this decision, an important meeting was held on February 14, 2026, in the Collector’s Office auditorium, chaired by Jabalpur Collector Raghavendra Singh. The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer of the District Panchayat, Abhishek Gehlot, Additional Superintendent of Police, Traffic, Anjana Tiwari, Regional Transport Officer, Rinku Sharma, District Education Officer, Ghanshyam Soni, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Traffic, Santosh Shukla, and officials from relevant departments, as well as principals and managers of schools affiliated with CBSE, ICSE, and the Board of Secondary Education in the district. The meeting reviewed the school transportation system in detail, and this decision was made with students’ safety in mind.
The order issued by the District Magistrate clearly directs that all school managements must ensure the provision of legally permitted and fitness-certified alternative vehicles in place of LPG-powered vehicles before April 1, 2026. It also mandates that compliance be ensured within the stipulated timeframe and a report be submitted to the Collector’s office through the District Education Officer.
The Regional Transport Officer has been directed to verify all school vehicles operating in the district, identify LPG-powered vehicles, and ensure necessary regulatory action is taken against them. Additionally, the Superintendent of Police and Traffic Police have been instructed to monitor compliance with the order by conducting surprise inspections during school hours. All Sub-Divisional Officers have also been assigned the responsibility of effectively implementing this order in their respective areas.
The District Education Officer has been directed to inform all schools in the district of the prohibitory order and ensure that school managements comply with it promptly. The Collector has clarified that any compromise in student safety will not be acceptable, and strict action will be taken in the event of violations. This decision by the administration is being considered an important step towards establishing a safe and standards-compliant school transportation system in the district.
