UPI Payment Without Internet: Online payments have become a part of our lives today, but this convenience can become a hassle when the network is out. In such a situation, a UPI feature allows payments even without internet access. This feature is especially beneficial for those living in areas with weak network coverage or who often experience connectivity issues.
The feature comes in handy when there’s no internet.
Digital payments have grown so rapidly today that people have almost forgotten to carry cash. Scanning QR codes has become commonplace everywhere, from buying vegetables to paying for tea or sharing bills with friends. But as soon as the internet goes out, the entire process comes to a halt. This is where the UPI without internet feature comes in handy. It’s specifically designed for situations when data or Wi-Fi are unavailable.
How the feature works
The most important thing about this feature is that it works not over the internet but via USSD. This means that if your phone has a network signal and can make a call, so can payments. Users need to dial *99# from their phone. A menu opens on the screen, allowing you to select different options. This method may seem a bit old-fashioned, but it’s extremely reliable.
How to Make Payments Without Internet
- If you don’t have internet access, you’ll need to dial *99# on your phone.
- After dialling *99#, users must select the Send Money option.
- Money can then be sent via mobile number, UPI ID, or bank details.
- The recipient’s name appears on the screen as soon as the mobile number is entered, reducing the chance of error.
- After this, enter the amount and UPI PIN, and the payment is completed instantly.
- The entire process takes seconds and requires no internet connection.
Keep in mind before using this feature:
While this feature is extremely useful, it also has some prerequisites. First, your mobile number must be linked to your bank account. In some cases, Aadhaar linking may also be necessary. If these basic requirements are not met, this service will not work. Therefore, it’s best to keep your bank details up to date so you can easily make payments without internet access if needed.
